Objectives: The objective of Jackie Moon is to acquire and train a winning basketball team. On the side, he aims to increase the fan base of his organization to ensure that they are able to remain financially feasible. To do so, he creates fun events to attract more viewers. The main goal is to have a stable fan base and at least 2000 individuals come to each game.

Forecasting: Jackie Moon recognizes that his organization needs to acquire funds to help his team grow. To invest in his team, he uses his own money and the funds he can scrape up from games. Furthermore, he buys more amenities for the stadium, such as food vendors, to accommodate the increasing viewership.

Scheduling: Jackie Moon recognizes that he must purchase new amenities each time he observes growth. Furthermore, after success, he alters his marketing strategies to attract even larger crowds. Last, he schedules his team to compete with other well-known teams to help this success continue.

Budgeting: After Jackie Moon buys the Flint Tropics, he recognizes his team needs to be trained, there needs to be marketing, and there needs to be amenities to support fans. Jackie Moon uses a mixture of his own money (because he’s wealthy) and the money that he acquires from games to meet these needs. To acquire more manpower, he trades the team washing machine for a new player named Ed Monix.

Task: Organizing

Selecting the team: Although Jackie Moon acquires the team, he trades his washing machine to add player Ed Monix from another team who has more experience and winnings.

Delegation: When Ed Monix is hired, he starts delegating responsibilities by observing the abilities of each player and assigning them relevant roles on the court.

Working climate: At first, the working climate is poor, but Monix’s intervention motivates the team and contributes to a positive organizational culture.

Task: Leading

Motivating: At the end of the movie, Monix gives the team a motivational speech showing them that they’ve come a long way and they can achieve greatness by winning the game in spite of their history.

Communication: Monix is a good leader because he is able to describe the basketball moves that he wants people to do in detail so they are able to understand them.

People Development: From the beginning of the movie, many of the characters now believe that they are able to win the basketball game due to the combined leadership of Monix and Moon.
