For this scholarly initiative, I anticipate submission to The Nurse Practitioner for review and publication. I believe that this project is appropriate for this publication because the use of the Chronic Care Model and its influence on care management for a patient with HIV/AIDS is essential to improving the care, treatment, and quality of life of this patient population. Most importantly, I believe that it is necessary for patients to receive expert care and treatment from knowledgeable and experienced nurses, using the CCM as a framework for improving outcomes for this population. There is a demand for new approaches to HIV/AIDS care (Chu & Selwyn, 2011); therefore, the CCM is one alternative that may contribute to positive results and improved quality of life, using drug therapies and preventive measures (Chorba et.al, 2012; Sloan et.al, 2012). The proposed article for publication will focus on areas such as decision support and technology-based information systems for patients with HIV/AIDS (Pasricha et.al, 2013), as well as disease self-management (Schulman-Green et.al, 2012).
I am proposing a strategic framework for this project in order to prepare for publication, using a six-month timeframe. During this period, I will complete a number of steps that will be used to complete the systematic review, develop conclusions, and complete all required edits prior to submission. This requires six months due to the intensive level of work involved in finalizing, editing, and preparing the final manuscript for review and submission. The proposed timeline is as follows: 1)Months 1-2: finalize the systematic review and prepare a draft manuscript for review and evaluation; 2) Months 3-5: edit the manuscript for grammatical errors, the nature and scope of the evidence, and obtaining any final literature support; and 3) Month 6: Prepare the final manuscript for submission to the journal. I believe that this timeline is appropriate in order to complete the manuscript and to submit it for review and publication in this journal.
