Write My Essay For MeChoose 2 or 3 critical essays (see complete instructions for finding articles in the PowerPoint) and read through them to get a sense of the overall arguments that the respective critics are making. Did reading them make you change your mind about anything? Do you disagree with the critics at any point? Then:
Write a brief paragraph detailing why you think these articles are relevant to your paper, (feel free to use a quotation from each article, if necessary).
Be sure to correctly cite the article and the text.
Scroll to the bottom of the articles to see their MLA source citations.
Copy and paste the citations below your paragraph and format them per MLA style (12 pt. font, double-spaced, etc.).
Instructions for Finding Critical Essays: For this assignment, you will find at least two (no more than 3) critical essays about the text you have chosen to write about for the Documented Research Paper. Use the Essex County College library’s databases, such as the Literature Online (ProQuest) or the Literature Resource Center (Cengage Learning/Gale), to search for critical essays that are: (1) specifically about the text and/or author; (2) scholarly and peer-reviewed. See the PDF on “Steps to Finding Scholarly Critical Essays Using Literary Databases” right below.
Again, these must be scholarly, critical essays–go to the Essex County College electronic databases and check the Literature Resource Center (Cengage Learning/Gale). You will need to use key word searching.
Try typing in the title of your text and its author (EX: Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun OR Stephen Crane’s The Monster) as search terms. Articles will come up. Read the abstracts (usually a one or two sentence summary at the beginning of the article) or the first page or two to ensure that the articles are relevant to your chosen theme.
If you are writing about A Raisin in the Sun, do not use summaries or overviews or theater reviews.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you include the signal phrase (title of text and author) in your brief paragraph.
NOTE: Since you are writing about a novel or a drama, you must italicize its title. Do not use quotation marks, and do not use bold type. For critical essays, you must use quotation marks around the essay’s title. Only italicize the portion that contains the play’s title, if applicable.
For example: “In Search of Equality: A Dream Deferred for African Americans in A Raisin in the Sun.”
See the PDF on “MLA In-text Citation Style for Drama” if you are writing about A Raisin in the Sun to ensure that you use the proper formatting.
When you have completed the assignment, save a copy for yourself in an easily accessible place and upload to Moodle.
