RESEARCH ESSAY FOR COLLEGE WRITING

In this assignment’s submission space, write an essay of at least 2000 words in which you explain your topic, review current literature on your topic, state your thesis, list the steps you will take to support (“prove”) your thesis, and then support your thesis. Be sure to provide some lines at the end that provide closure for the work. Here are the requirements.
1) Write directly into the submission box, and please use single spacing.
2) Use indentations to indicate paragraph openings.
3) Please give your essay a two-tiered title.
4) Use at least 6 quotations in your essay (I would prefer to see at least three sources cited in your review of literature).
5) Follow this order of discussion: discuss your topic (start general and then explain what your specific topic is), summarize what a few other critical writers have argued concerning this topic, express your thesis (start your thesis sentence with, My thesis in this essay is), explain how you will organize the rest of the paper (use language like “In order to support my thesis to the fullest, I will do four steps. First, I will . . . . Then I will . . . . Third I will . . . . Finally, I will . . . . ” [you don’t have to have four steps, but you should definitely have more than two steps]), provide explanation and support for each step in the body of the paper (get your audience to the point where they can see your thesis is reasonable, possible, and even probably), and then close with an appropriate closing.
6) Use at least 6 sources in the essay, 3 of which have to be academic sources.
7) Meticulously review your work so that you can eliminate typos, misspellings, and grammar mistakes.
8) Provide a Works Cited list under your work (title the list Work Cited)
9) Use MLA style (7th ed) throughout when it comes to formatting in-text citation and full-source citation (this includes proper capitalization of titles, italics for titles when necessary, etc.).
10) At the very end, please include a line that says “The word count for this essay is _____.” (provide the word count).
