Introduction

This research explores dementia from the perspective of a PICO investigation. Experts have advanced that there is no cure for dementia. Consequently, measures have to be adopted in healthcare to facilitate coping with memory loss. Thus, the question, can psychotherapy enhance coping with memory lose due to dementia than medicalisation among patients affected with the condition?

Search Strategy

Three databases were perused in deriving relevant articles/ studies pertaining to the theme question. They were Walden Library, Google Scholar and Pub Med. Four key words were selected to be used in the search.  People affected by dementia, psychotherapy, medicalisation and coping with memory loss were the three keywords used to retrieve relevant articles on the topic. Below are tables showing results of this search from the three databases utilized.

From this search five articles were selected two pertaining to people affected by dementia and one each with psychotherapy, medicalisation and coping with memory loss.

Conclusion

The foregoing essay defined the PICO question indicating measures to be taken in findings relevant literature for the topic, dementia and possible treatment  interventions according to available best practices evidence. Five articles were retrieved as an indication of literature thatcan be used in answering the PICO question
