Requirements:

– Structure:

o the paper must have a thesis that argues a particular point and answers a “How?” or

“Why?” question. This should be distinguished from a statement:

statement: The sky is full of clouds.

Motive + thesis: Why is the sky full of clouds? Clouds form in the sky

because of evaporation processes and the wind patterns which then affect

them.

o the thesis must be supported by several arguments, which are developed

throughout the paper. These should have a logical sequence to them (i.e. argument 2 requires argument 1 to come first in order to make sense):

Argument 1: Clouds form because of evaporation process X and Y.

Argument 2: Clouds that developed out of the evaporation process are then

further affected by wind patterns.

– Sources:

o Primary sources: presentation and analysis of at least one original object/source, but

you are encouraged to use more.

Primary source materials can be in any media, format, genre, or language.

o Secondarysources:useofatleastfourscholarlysources

Sources should be credible. No internet enthusiast pages! If you are unsure

of the quality of a source, be sure to check with me.
