Students will spend at least 2 hours with some outward sign that denotes that they belong to a social group to which they don’t actually belong. Students can choose any group of their choice except for gender or race. Students will need to find some way to denote membership in the group – it may be a hat, T-shirt, or other piece of clothing. Be creative and at the same time please take care to approach the ‘transformation’ with respect and care. Students should also seek out a situation that departs from the expected norms of the group. IMPORTANT: YOUR BEHAVIOR SHOULD BE LEGAL AND SAFE, FOR YOU AND FOR OTHERS.

In the paper, please describe the group that you have chosen and why. What means did you take to signify that you belonged to that group? Why did you choose this approach? Did you think it was believable? Next, describe your experience. Focus both on how you felt, and how people reacted to you. Did you behave any differently as a member of that group?
