Once you have the data, analyze the tendency and trends within it (descriptive analysis), and decide what story the data tells (expose useful correlations present)1. Chose at least two visualization or displays to effectively tell that story. For example, Jesus Barajas in Biking Where Black effectively told the story with two heat maps: one showing where bicycle safety was an issue, the other showing where bicycle code enforcement was occurring.
