Paper Focus Summary:

This a research paper with a focus on west African immigrants in Harlem NY. The title of this paper is :

The African Immigrants families in Harlem, here and there:

Focus on the changing family dynamics of West African immigrants in the US; Specifically in Harlem New York. The paper will explore the changes being brought by the globalization of Africa immigrants.

Because kinship lies at the heart of Africa’s family relations and social life, and as observed from my interview, and the fact that it is also vital that they keep ties with families back in their country of origin. I will explore what are the new forms of kinship being developed, if any, how family dynamics both here and in their country are operating as “international families,” and what other changes are happening and being recycled

This paper will incorporate some of the initial observation interviews that I have conducted including using one of the main source from the Couse : the readying’s by Francisci Menchaves. I have also included other key sources to be used that can give a good sense of this community.
