Using this diagram of ecological theory, consider major influences during your early childhood years (birth to age 8) that ‘shaped’ who you are today (e.g. family, school, technology, etc.). Because the course is designed with this theory in mind, also consider three main ideas from course sessions that come to mind in thinking about your own moments and influences during your early childhood years. Also, please keep in mind that you only need to share what you feel comfortable sharing. If you would rather discuss a friend’s childhood or a relative’s childhood, that is fine, too.

Paper Organization:

*Title: There is no need to provide a specific title for this paper. You can write “Early Childhood Reflection” as your title. A cover page is not needed for this paper, either, so you can write your title right before the start of your introductory paragraph.

Introduction: Provide some background information; where did you spend your early childhood years, and with whom? How do people describe you as a child?

Connections to class concepts: Think about 3 main ideas/concepts/sessions from the course and use those to further describe factors that you think shaped who you are today. Write a paragraph for each of these class concepts.
In each paragraph, elaborate on this class concept and explain how it is connected to a particular childhood memory, relationship, or experience. These should all come from your first 8 years of life, though you can certainly consider how these early childhood experiences have influenced later moments/stages in your life.

Conclusion: One paragraph. How have the ideas in this course helped you to think about your early childhood experiences as an important foundation for your following life experiences and identity?

Writing Conventions: Proper use of spelling, grammar, and punctuation will be graded. Points will not be deducted for minor grammar errors, as long as they do not impact the flow of the paper or the audience’s ability to understand the arguments posed in the paper.

APA Style:
Include in-text citations for the lectures/readings/other class materials you are using in your paper’s text and provide a reference list at the end of the paper in APA Format (including class lectures).
