The final exam is a written one, constructed by you based on a couple of guidelines set by me.

1. You will choose four theories/concepts throughout the course to discuss in detail.

2. For each theory/concept, write a paragraph or two explaining it. In this paragraph you should define the theory or phenomenon and explain why you chose it. For example, you might choose to write about the phenomenon groupthink from Unit 3. You would then explain what it is and then talk about why it is important to you personally leading you to write about it. Please do not only use the book’s definition to explain this. I need to know that you could tell me what it is if we were talking face-to-face.

3. For each concept, you must also give a real life example (feel free to give more than just one) of its’ application or use. Again, if you were to write about groupthink, you would write about a situation in which you were involved in groupthink or a situation you have read/heard about that exemplifies groupthink.

4. Why is it important to understand this concept? Should others know about it too? Would being more educated on it change the world in some way? If so, how can others learn more about this? Is there anything you could do to help with this?

You will be writing four essays about different social psychology theories. Each essay will be worth 12.5 points for a total of 50. As always, spelling, punctuation, capitalization will count towards your grade. Details will work to your advantage. I need to know from your writing that you, without a doubt, understand the theory or phenomenon you are writing about. If you can do that in a smaller paragraph, that is great. If you think there is any room for me to question your understanding, though, I would add more details.
