The article, Lester Brown dishes on what it takes to feed a hungry world, discusses the viewpoint of Lester Brown concerning not only the declining supply of food in the world, but also water table shortages and the erosion of farmland.  The article is in the form of an interview, and most of the author’s depictions of Brown occur at the beginning, while the rest is focused on a question-answer format which directly reflects the ideologies of Brown’s position.

I agree with the author’s position on many points.  It is important to take a business perspective when approaching these issues.  In doing so, an economical approach to maintaining proper land and water table health can be achieved.  This is also true of management of land resources.  The best way to distribute these necessities among the most people is to take an economic approach, which allows for the application of statistical data in order to maximize the yield of a specific area.

The decline in farmland, water supply, and food overall are important aspects in Brown’s ecological framework.  For this reason, it is important for those in the corporate world to take the responsibility for the actions that their businesses take.  In this way, a sense of accountability can be put in place so that these individuals take on the roles that are required of them in order to help curb the degradation of the environment.
