Reagents and equipment

Glassware and ingredients you use to brew coffee. (If you do not drink coffee, it could be any other food item that you put together from at least three ingredients, such as tea, drink mixes, soups, or cereals.)

Procedure

1. Put together a one-person portion of the food item the way you prepare it for yourself.

2. Record how much of each ingredient you have used. (You may use mL, ounces, cups, spoons, or anything else you normally use as units, but be consistent – for example, if you use “these many spoons” as a unit, it is always the same sized spoons.)

3. How much of each ingredient would you need for half a portion?

4. If your normal coffee recipe were 1 cup of water, 1 scoop of coffee and 3 spoons of creamer, but what you had were unlimited water, ½ scoop of coffee, and 1 spoon of creamer, how much coffee would you be able to make according to your recipe?

5. If your normal coffee recipe were 1 cup of water, 1 scoop of coffee and 3 spoons of creamer, what ratios would you try for another person who likes sweeter coffee?
