Timberland Boot Company: An Example of Corporate Social Responsibility in its Participation with City Year Community Initiatives.
Timberland has demonstrated repeatedly over the years that by means of the application of community support, marketing approaches and quality products that they are motivated to be the best manufacturing organization possible. Timberland Boot Company has been providing its employees with salaries in order to perform service to the community. This initiative, in addition to their day which is dedicated to global volunteering is one of the characteristics that make Timberland a unique company that has the capacity of giving back to the community (Austin, 2001).
One of the more memorable implementations in which the Timberland Boot Company based in New Hampshire has engaged was to refurbish Inwood House. Inwood
House is a not for profit agency which provides assistance to teenage girls with regards to counseling and education in order to avoid teenage pregnancy. The encouragement shown by the Timberland Boot Company is an activity which should be commended in the business community. The project that had been undertaken by the Timberland Boot Company caused their shoe wear line to become more popular with female consumers (Austin, 2003).
Organizations have the requisite of considering the manner by which they interact with the community in which they reside. The motivations that have been shown by the members of the Timberland Boot Company are an endeavor which has created a social value. The creation of social value in the community can assist organizations create greater commercial value. Enhancement of the community causes the business organization to improve (Austin, 2003).

The strategic investment implemented by Timberland in Inwood House is an example of social corporate responsibility and strategic investment. The not for profit organizations also benefits from the strategic alliance formed with businesses.
